Set in Coal Point with views across Lake Macquarie, this two-storey custom home was designed to make the most of its waterfront outlook while creating a practical long-term family home.

The exterior combines a dark textured finish with blackbutt timber battens, giving the home a strong contemporary look while still bringing warmth through the natural timber detailing. Full-height glazing was used throughout to pull in natural light and frame the water views, particularly from the upper level and master suite.

Inside, blackbutt flooring continues that warmer material palette through the home, balancing the darker exterior and creating a consistent feel from room to room.

The project was recognised at the 2022 HIA Hunter Region Awards, receiving Best Bathroom in the $25,000–$40,000 category and being named a finalist in the Renovations $500,000–$750,000 category.
